Vehicle Description

Here we have the last of the six classic Saabs that we rescued out of a barn in deepest Herefordshire! It is the very desirable 900 Turbo S Aero 3 door.
This particular 900 Turbo is showing 165795 miles recorded. It last passed an MOT in November 2015 and has been off the road since, consequently it now requires full restoration.

Drivetrain
The car appears to be mechanically complete and the engine does start and run. It goes into gear and will move under its own power. It will of course need everything checking over and refreshing as it hasn’t been run properly for at least 8 years prior to us getting the car.

Body and Chassis
Out of the six, this is probably the least rusty of them all, that said, there will still be some late nights in the garage with the welder to get this Swede fighting fit again! The worst area is the nearside sill and jacking point which has been atrociously repaired before, the rest of the underside, from what we can see, doesn’t look too bad. The nearside rear wheel arch has fairly much disintegrated but the rest of panel work, again isn’t too bad.

The Interior
Inside the Saab is mostly complete and not in horrible condition, apart from the headlining, which is in horrible condition!! The upholstery is predominately undamaged with just a small hole in drivers seat bolster, the dash pad is very good with no signs of cracking. The carpets are all complete as is all the trim and switchgear. Take the headlining out and give everything else the clean of its life and you would have a decent, useable interior.

We have the V5 for the car and both keys.

Summary
It has been said that Saab doesn’t build cars, it builds Saabs!!! there’s probably no better way to sum up the extraordinary Swedish firm and its pre-GM products and this is a rare opportunity to restore one of its more desirable models. It does require complete restoration but what a rewarding project it would be!
