The Car
The R230 took over from the R129 SL and was pitched against the most exotic car manufacturers in the world, the SL not only acted as a flagship model for the brand but came with a heritage that combines quality, safety, performance and practicality - with a touch of styling panache. The car used state of the art technology for its braking and suspension systems. One of the R230s biggest facets was the electronic folding hard top, gone were the days of having to ask a family member or neighbour for removing and storing the hard top, just a flick of the switch and the solid roof folds in to the boot.
This example is the Autobahn crushing SL600 with the 5.5L V12 power-plant. Finished in Orion Blue, it presents in excellent condition having covered just 78343 miles and boasting a full Mercedes-Benz service history.

The Drive
From the first turn of the key, you know you are about to pilot something very special indeed. The mighty V12 springs to life with a very meaty sounding roar then quickly settles down to super smooth tickover.
Out on the road you are reminded of how capable the SL is, especially in “600” form. It will happily waft you around in pure luxury but push its throttle to the floor and you'll never think about acceleration in the same way again. The shove in the back from the bi-turbo V12 is phenomenal. But really, that isn’t what this car is all about, it is the sort of car you can drive to the south of France just as easily as you would popping to your local supermarket.

The Exterior
Finished in Orion Blue, our SL presents very nicely, no nasty scratches or dents and the paintwork has a lovely deep shine to it. There are, of course a few stone chips and the odd imperfection but overall it looks fantastic!
The wheels are all in very nice condition and are shod in a matching set of Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, the headlights are bright and clear and all badges and trim are present and correct, all in all a very handsome car indeed.

The Interior
Step inside the SL and you are greeted with a sea of leather, wood and suede, all beautifully crafted, as you would expect from a Mercedes. It is clear to see, by the condition of the interior that it has been treated carefully and respectfully by all of its previous owners.
It also has an incredible spec list as well, with features such as heated / cooled and massaging seats, satellite navigation, Bluetooth phone prep, radar cruise control, adjustable suspension, climate control, folding mirrors, parking sensors, the list goes on and on!

The Paperwork
The Mercedes comes with 2 keys, its V5, a current and clear HPi report, a large file of service invoices, all from Mercedes, the original book pack including its stamped service book and a host of previous MOT’s.

The Conclusion
So, just 78000 miles on the clock, a full Mercedes-Benz service history, with a service just carried out at Mercedes Cheltenham & Gloucester, an advisory free MOT until November, and presented in very nice condition in a classy colourway, this is a cracking V12 roadster.
