Vehicle Description
Cult Classics & Detailing are delighted to offer this charming, numbers matching 1966 Daimler V8 250 for sale.

The Car
Finished in Dark Maroon with matching Maroon leather interior, our Daimler has had just 3 former keepers and is showing a mere 54115 miles recorded.
It was built on the 8th April 1966 and left the Coventry factory on the 19th April bound for Mountergate Motors of Norwich. The car was subsequently bought and registered by its first owner on 28th April 1966.

The Exterior
Subject to an older restoration, our Daimler still presents very nicely. The Maroon paintwork has a lovely deep, even shine to it, there are a few imperfections around the car but nothing to spoil its rakish good looks. It still retains all its original brightwork, which is in very presentable condition with only the slightest patina to mention.
Underneath it is pleasingly corrosion free, with evidence of the floor pans having been replaced, it is always reassuring to see complete panels being replaced rather than just patches being welded on!

The Interior
This has to be one of the most original interiors we have seen in a 60s classic for a long while. It is all in very good condition, especially considering it is all 57 years old! Nothing is broken or damaged it just has a lovely lived in patina that perfectly reflects the character of the car.
The dashboard is in great condition across the car and the original clocks also look the part being clean, clear and all fully functioning
The original steering wheel is in great condition as is the gear selector with no signs of damage or significant wear and the gold “D” badge in front of you lets you know you are driving something a little bit special.

The Drive
This is where this lovely old Daimler really excels, it drives so well that frankly, we were astonished!
It starts on the very first stab of the starter button, even in the recent very cold weather and ticks over beautifully. Out on the road it encourages a calm, serene, polite style of driving that is really quite lovely. However, squeeze the right hand pedal and the old Daimler will surge forward with a fair degree of urgency, accompanied by a very satisfying V8 burble.
But really, that is not what this car is about, everything is so buttery smooth from the engine, to the gearbox, to the suspension, to the brakes, that you just want to cruise and enjoy every moment. It really is one of the most pleasurable classics we have driven in a very long time.

The Paperwork
The Daimler comes with a large folder of paperwork including its V5, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate proving its numbers matching status, a large collection of service invoices dating back to 2001, a selection of old photographs of the car dating back to 1987 and lots of original booklets including the operating, maintenance and service handbook.

Conclusion
Every now and again we fall in love with one of the cars in our stock portfolio and this is one of those cars. It doesn’t have perfect paintwork or a fully restored interior but these are the things we love about it, that and the way it drives. You could, of course throw huge amounts of money at it, chasing perfection but we wouldn’t do a thing to it, just enjoy it for what it is, a lovely, honest, original and useable classic.
