The Car
The 2003 Geneva motor show was the time and place that Audi introduced something truly special, something that was as overengineered as it was understated.
It was the Audi Le Mans Quattro concept car, built to celebrate the third consecutive Le Mans victory by the R8 race car and the car that, with very little changes, would become the R8 road car, a truly different breed of supercar, a car that is just as happy on the streets as it is on the track.
Finished in Ice Silver with Apollo Silver side blades, our particular R8 presents beautifully both inside and out and has had just 2 previous keepers. It is showing a mere 34388 miles recorded and boasts a full and comprehensive service history.

The service history is verified by a stamped service book and a large folder of invoices, also note that the car has recently had the front discs and pads replaced and has just been serviced (105 miles ago) at Taunton Audi.

The Drive
For those of you who have not had the pleasure of driving a Gen 1 R8 V10, it is a truly unforgettable experience
From the moment you sit behind the wheel and hear that glorious V10 FSi roar into life, you know you’re in something special. Out on the road the R8s monstrous power is delivered seamlessly via the Quattro all wheel drive, providing exceptional stability and handling.
The suspension is perfectly set up to deliver an incredible balance of comfort and performance. The R8, driven quietly, is as comfortable as any Audi saloon but open her up on your favourite twisty B road and it is scalpel sharp, leaving you in no doubt, you are piloting a proper supercar!
But, for us, the thing that makes this R8 extra special is the transmission. No R-Tronic / S-Tronic flappy paddle autobox here, ours is a gated 6 speed manual. This just ramps the fun and engagement levels up to 11. Also the manual version of the R8 V10s are becoming increasingly rare and sought after, which reinforces our view that this is the model collectors will be clamouring over in the not too distant future.

The Exterior
As mentioned, our R8 is finished in Ice Silver with Apollo silver side blades, a lovely subtle colour combination that works really well with the striking lines of the car. The paintwork is as immaculate as your likely find on any 15 year old car. All the panel gaps are perfect and there is not a scratch or dent to be seen. Only under very close inspection will you notice a couple of stone chips on the lower front section of the car, even these have all been nicely touched in with the correct touch up paint.
It rides on its V10 only 19” Y spoke alloys, all of which are in superb condition with no kerb marks or corrosion and these are wrapped in a correct matching set of Pirelli P-Zero tyres.

The Interior
It is a similar story inside, everywhere you look it’s clear that the car has been used carefully and respectfully throughout its life. The Fine Nappa leather is all in superb condition with next to no signs of wear and tear. All the trims and switchgear are excellent, even the steering wheel still has a lovely matt sheen to it. The R8 also comes with a nice spec, including satellite navigation, reverse camera, heated seats, cruise control and climate control to name but a few, and needless to say, everything works as it should, it is an Audi after all!!

The Paperwork
The R8 comes with its V5 and its original stitched suede book pack. All manuals are present and correct including the fully stamped service book. There is a large paperwork folder containing several MOT certificates, including its current one, lots of service invoices and a current HPi report. It also comes with 2 remote keys and the plastic master key.

The Conclusion
So, not quite a classic yet but undeniably a future one. It is an ultra fast, phenomenally responsive and immensely capable supercar - equally at home in the city as it is on the most challenging of back roads.
Make no mistake, this is a car of great depth and completeness; arguably the best supercar in the real world.
